It Is Official
As of today, I am a married man. I will post pics when I get back to Wichita. Tonight we are going out for Halloween and then this weekend is Palm Springs Pride!

Diwali
I am not Hindu but I lit a candle tonight for the Diwali or "festival of lights". The lights or lamps signify victory of good over the evil within every human being. Regardless of your faith, that is something I think we can all agree with and hope for.
Election Fatigue
I don't know if it is because they started so early, or because this election has been more contentious than normal, or what... but just about every blog I read, and every person I talk to is feeling this election is WAY over due. We are ALL sick of it. I voted by absentee ballot last week since I will be out of town, and you would think that would give me some relief, but it has not. I still feel tense, as if holding my breath against the vacuum of space. DAMN IT, LET IT BE OVER! For better or worse it needs to be over, our collective national psyche is about to come unraveled. We have seen too much of the ugliness we are capable of.

Lyrics to live by #4 - Goldfrapp
Some people kill for less
Some people find it hard to get dressed
Some people, well
Ask how old I am
Some people live in a life
Some people need more than a slice
But when it fades
When the glitter's gone
You know it
You owe it to yourself
You won't let it make you mad
It's already crazy
Some people find it hard to get dressed
Some people, well
Ask how old I am
Some people live in a life
Some people need more than a slice
But when it fades
When the glitter's gone
You know it
You owe it to yourself
You won't let it make you mad
It's already crazy

I Am The Darkness?
There is a nut job right wing group (TheCall.com) running an add that says gay marriage is a fight between the darkness and the light... so apparently I am the darkness? Hmm... I would have considered their hateful bigotry and judgement the darkness. So anyways, Randy and I leave next week for Palm Springs and it cannot come soon enough. It is friggin cold here in KS. The forecast for PS next week is upper 80's and lower 90's (ahhh...)

The U.S. love it or leave it.
Recently some conservative bloggers (yes I read them, don't agree with them... but I can defend my positions better by understanding theirs) have started saying if Obama wins they are going to move to another country. This cracks me up as much when liberals say it as when conservatives do. Comments on these blogs have been bouncing around as to where to move to that would be more conservative. The recommendation I have seen most has been Australia. This is a country that I actually know a little bit about as part of my job is understanding Australian Taxation. As a service to all you conservatives thinking of relocating, let me share some of my knowledge.
Lets begin with socialized medicine (GASP!). One of the things Republicans hate most is socialized medicine. Bring it up and faces tend turn red and smoke comes from the ears. Well, sorry boys, Australians have it. Every Australian is entitled to medical care.. even rich people... although they must pay a special "Medicare Levy" (GASP! AGAIN) unless they have private insurance of their own.
Another thing U.S. conservatives dislike is welfare (DISCLAIMER: If you are conservative and you feel your head ready to explode you might want to stop reading). Let me acquaint you with a neat little Australian government entity know as the Family Assistance Office. From this liberal government agency (OH MY GOD, I said the "L" word), you can receive a wide range of public welfare programs. A few examples are: 1. the Baby Bonus Claim- "We give you money just cause you had a baby", 2. Family Tax Benefit- "We gotta give you money to keep feeding those babies", 3. The 30% Child Care Credit- "Cause its expensive getting daycare for all those babies"... I'll stop, lest I be implicated in the death of unsuspecting GOP readers.
Lets talk about gay rights. The Australian army allows gays to openly serve. "Yes, please do ask, and I'll tell you all about it". Hmm sounds gosh dern liberal to me. How about gay marriage? They don't have that... but legislation expected this year should change that and provide full government acknowledgment of same sex relationships (Beware the fire and brimstone mate).
Well, I hope this helps my conservative friends in their search for that conservative Mecca they are looking for. Hey speaking of Mecca, I hear Saudi Arabia is pretty conservative... maybe G.W. can pull some strings and get ya in.

Still Angry!
I waited all day yesterday to write last nights post, thinking I would calm down and my thoughts would be more cogent. Obviously that did not happen, and I am still fuming today. I know there are nuts in every group but I can’t help but feel that the Republican party has created an environment where the nuts feel comfortable coming out of the woodwork… indeed many of them seem to be in charge of the party. The GOP needs to do some soul searching… and purge some radical elements of their leadership.
Anyways, this weekend Randy and I are heading down to OKC, maybe the change of venue will help get me out of this rage. It doesn't help that I can feel my seasonal affective disorder creeping back. Our friend Brad is competing for Mr. Oklahoma leather so I have to lighten up enough to cheer him on.

SO ANGRY!
Republicans are pissing me off. Several blogs have been posting the videos of Republicans going in and out of Rally's. I have never been so disgusted in my life. "Terrorist", "Arab", Commie Faggot", "Obama Osama" are some of the words they are using to describe Barrack. It is truly DISGUSTING, RACIST, HATEFUL behavior. You fuckers even Booed McCain when he tried to correct your shitful ways. The Republican party deserves nothing but disdain.
If you don't agree with the democratic party, or Barack's policies, or whatever, you are free to make your arguments, vote how you want. But what you fuckers are doing now is despicable. GO TO FUCKING HELL REPUBLICAN PARTY!

Vote No On Prop 8
As you may know, I am getting married in Palm Springs at the end of the month. It will be void in KS, but someday I hope to leave this small minded state and live in California. Because it will affect me and not just people in CA, I have donated $100 to the Vote No on Prop 8 campaign.
>
Conservatives are telling lies to scare people... such as the lie that church's will be required to perform gay marriages or lose tax exempt status. We have to get the word out that this is not true. Progressive states have the opportunity to show that the world will not end if gays have the right to marry, and maybe someday even gays in KS will have equal rights. Please donate if you can.

What Is The Surface Area Of Iraq?
S = Akc^3/(4hG)
This is a neat little formula from Stephen Hawking. It basically says the surface area of a black hole is proportional its entropy (a measurement of chaos in a system). What makes it neat to me is how it is applicable to so many other things besides cosmology. For example:
What is the surface area of Sarah Palin's ass?
Now you give it a try.

Sanctuary
Several months ago, Randy downloaded a internet series called Sanctuary. It has my straight crush actress Amanda Tapping. She plays Dr. Helen Magnus, a woman who protects the world from monsters and monsters from the world. I almost didn't watch it because I had already seen it. Luckily I did... and glad I did, they have added so much to the aired version. I highly recommend it for all you sci fi, ren faire, geek gays (like me).

Winter is coming
Winter is coming. Those words make the hair on my neck stand up. Every muscle in my body becomes tense. My heart feels with dread. Some people look forward to the season. To them the cold Canadian air is "brisk" and "invigorating", to me it is filled with the stench of death. I have to remind myself that the sun will return again next year, that it won't always be night when I go to work and again when I return home. Remind myself that my knuckles will not always bleed from the lack of humidity... and I won't always be shocked by static climbing into bed at night.
Hell is not hot, Hell is cold.
Hell is not hot, Hell is cold.
